What they say: The Terror That Hides Inside Your Mind!
Agoraphobic mystery novelist Lauren Cochran decides to leave the city in an attempt to cure her recent writer’s block. She rents an old Victorian house in the quiet countryside, unaware of its shocking history. As those around her suffer increasingly violent deaths, Lauren begins to unravel the truth: the house was once an infamous brothel now haunted by the victims of a bloody massacre. Will her terrifying phobia allow her to escape from THE NESTING?
Also known as MASSACRE MANSION and PHOBIA, this eerie house of horrors was co-written, produced, and directed by notorious adult filmmaker Armand Weston, and stars Robin Groves (STEPHEN KING’S SILVER BULLET), John Carradine (SHOCK WAVES, THE HOWLING), and Academy Award(r) winner Gloria Grahame (THE BAD AND THE BEAUTIFUL, OKLAHOMA!) in her final film role. Long unavailable on home video, THE NESTING has been newly transferred in blood-curdling High Definition from the original camera negative!

What I say: I love a good ghost story, and The Nesting fits the bill nicely. Heroine Lauren moves into a creepy old house, and immediately starts see spirits. She dreams of them as well. As the movie goes on a nice little mystery opens up about the house, its past, and the secret tragedy that happened there 40 years ago. As the secrets unravel, it’s the people of the small town not the ghosts Lauren must fear, as the secrets must be protected.
The Nesting is a little seen, fun little ghost story. It always seems like the true gems of the genre seem to fall between the cracks, like The Dorm that Dripped Blood which I also reviewed recently. Picture quality is excellent with very nice depth of field, a clear crisp image, and a lovely layer of film grain.
The sound design is also excellent, as the creaks of the house and groans of the ghosts surround you, enveloping you into Laurens horror. Both the 7.1 DTS MA HD and 5.1 DD track do a fantastic job.
