What they say: A practitioner of the mystical kung-fu style known as Qigong,
Ricky is invincible, has superhuman strength, and can virtually
withstand all pain. He uses his martial arts skills to clean up
the system after being incarcerated in a prison run by corrupt
officials. This leads to ill-fated attempts by others to subdue
him, which end up being extremely gory and over-the-top.

What I say: And here I thought Tokyo Gore Police was the goriest movie ever made. Riki-Oh blows it out of the water. Even the simplest fights explode into crescendos of destroyed limps and blood. Punches shatter arms, destroy chins, and knock eyes out of sockets. If it wasn’t so horrifying it would be almost cartoon like.

Restraint is not in this films vocabulary. Everything is taken to a ridiculous extreme, even the acting and fighting. The film, while trying to be political with the whole privatized prison thing, is just a gorehounds delight. Even the dialog is exceptionally hilarious. I won’t spoil any of them, but be ready to giggle like a ninny in the midst of the carnage.

Picture quality wise, it barely looks like a Blu-Ray presentation, but if you have ever seen ANY of the previous DVDs it is a HUGE improvement. Sound is not to hot either with audible hiss, but like I said its better than any DVD release of this title.

Film: 8/10
Blu-Ray: 7/10
