What they say: Read The Fine Print… You May Have Just Mortgaged Your Life!
A young family moves from their cramped New York City apartment to a spacious new home in New England. But this is no ordinary house in the country: the previous owner was the deranged Dr. Freudstein, whose monstrous human experiments have left a legacy of bloody mayhem. Now, someone – or something – is alive in the basement, and home sweet home is about to become a horrific hell on earth.
Catriona MacColl (THE BEYOND), Paolo Malco (THE NEW YORK RIPPER), Ania Pieroni (TENEBRE), Carlo De Mejo (CITY OF THE LIVING DEAD), and Dagmar Lassander (HATCHET FOR THE HONEYMOON) star in this outrageous Italian shocker from ‘The Godfather of Gore,’ Lucio Fulci(ZOMBIE, CITY OF THE LIVING DEAD). Now Blue Underground proudly presents the definitive version of THE HOUSE BY THE CEMETERY: freshly transferred in blood-soaked High Definition from its original uncut and uncensored negative and loaded with exclusive new Extras!

What I say: This movie fell in one of the Maestros rather fertile periods, following The City of the Living Dead and The Beyond, when Fulcis films took on a rather nightmarish feel to them. In add these films we started in a reality like situation, but once the supernatural was added all bets are off. You can physically feel the shift. All logic goes out the window, just like in a dream. This is a very convincing way to illustrate how things must feet to these characters facing the opening of The Beyond.

This film seems like it never was treated right on DVD. But this Blu-Ray is a revelation! Seeing all the Maestros carnage in beautiful high definition makes this old gorehound proud. If you have not seen House by the Cemetery on Blu-Ray, you’ve never seen it. All kinds of nasty new details pop out at you. It truly is a masterful presentation. The sound is great as well (Well, except for Bobs voice). The 7.1 mix is really impressive.
