What they say: The water is tainted. The Taint poisons the minds of men. It turns them into raging misogynists: monsters who want nothing more than to crush women’s heads with rocks (or other objects). When society is transformed into a land of sadistic violence and horrible brutality, it is up to Phil O’Ginny and his hot friend, Misandra, to combat the horrible evil that is The Taint. Can they survive a world brimming with castration and endless head crushing?!
What I say: You know I love a good indie horror film, usually they care more about getting the word out and will do anything to promote their film. Now this brings us to the Taint. I contacted the film makers to request a screener. They offered me a streaming option I could not do, so they then offered to send a DVD screener. About a week later it arrived. I shit you not, it was in the flimsiest envelope I have ever seen. Inside the DVD was wrapped in a pink sheet of paper (The movie poster), no paper sleeve, no case, just rattling around. I think he hit his couch cushions to come up with the $1.10 it took to ship it. Needless to say the disc was scratched all to hell.
To me it just seems silly. If you are going to send out something you worked hard on, wouldn’t you want it to get there in watchable condition? If they put so little effort in shipping it, the movie its self can’t be worth shit, right? Right?
Now I could complain and probably got another copy, but based on the lack of respect they have toward their own product, I think I will pass. I had every intention of watching and reviewing this film, but if they can’t be arsed, neither can I.
Film: Who knows?
DVD: Scratched up.
