I’m still blowing thru the backlog. Normal review posting will resume after Wednesday.
Ryder, P.I.
DVD, MVD
This forgotten little comedy is a riot! Filled with New York comedians and Howard Stern in his screen debut, this spoof of detective films is frequently hilarious. Witty as hell and a lot of fun you should definitely check this out.
As usual the picture quality is pretty crap but it’s a fun movie at a good price.

Funeral Home
DVD, MVD
You should never make a hotel out of an old funeral home. It just never goes well. Girl moves in with Granny, Granny sees dollar signs, people disappear, bad things happen. Man this is exactly like I remember it back in the 80’s I think it was even mastered from the same VHS I used to have. Good times to be had if you were a child of the 80’s.

Wound
DVD, Breaking Glass Pictures
This is one fucked up flick! Directed by David Blyth who brought us such chillers as Death Warmed Up and All-American Girl returns to the horror film in this messed up little gem. It’s low budget as hell but manages to over that become a disturbing journey into the mind of Susan, a disturbed young woman. Such issues as rape and incest are bandied around and keeps things unsettling.
This is not an easy watch, but if you have the tolerance for it you are rewarded with an excellent shocker. Kudos to Breaking Glass for bringing it over.

Madison County
DVD, Image Entertainment
Have you ever noticed how most of Image Entertainments output is total shit? Well the trend continues here with another jackass in a pig mask terrorizing the countryside. It tries to be hip and witty but Behind the Mask did it better. Yawn! Next!
Film: 6/10
Museum of Wonders
DVD, Elite/MVD
Have you seen Freaks? Ok imagine that it has been remade by the insane Italian director of The House of Flesh Mannequins. It’s exactly what it sounds like and that’s cool with me. The camera work is gorgeous, the acting is excellent and the score is haunting. I really enjoyed this little surprise and look forward to more films from this mad genius!
