Video Of Ravenswood Comics, New Hartford NY

I’ve mentioned Ravenswood Comics before in the podcasts, but wanted to do something to show you how great Janine is. She is such a class act with her kindness, wonderful personality, and especially her ability to not put up with bullies and cheaters.

Founded in 1983 by her brother and a good friend of mine John Julian, Ravenswood filled the gap in Central New York long absence of a comic store after Lost World Comics closed. John had a special deal for the first 150 customers through the door: A free copy of Uncanny X-Men # 150. It was my very first issue of the series, and I have that issue to this very day.

When John passed away, his dad and his sister Janine took over the store. Dad has retired, but Janine has spent 20+ years keeping the doors open and the fun going. With the help of the always fun and personable Joe, she has managed to make Ravenswood thrive through so many turbulent periods in the comics industry.

Janine has been grateful enough to be the sponsor of our free comics giveaway at the midnight premieres of both “The Amazing Spider-Man” next week and “The Dark Knight Rises” on July 19th. We’re giving out comics and gift certificates to people in line for the films, and special prizes to the first kid we see at either movie in costume. I want to thank Janine, Joe, and the gang at Ravenswood for allowing us to do the giveaway, and I wanted to do this little video to say thank you to them.

So I spent about an hour today putting together this video. Like I said on the YouTube video, imagine how much less this video would have sucked had I spent more time on it?? LOL
