Introducing X-Men:First Class….(UPDATED!)

Apparently, the reveal picture of Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man last week started a chain reaction as Fox decided to showcase their new X-Men cast and the results are….interesting.

While I had some reservations on the small changes in Spidey’s costume, I overall really liked what I saw. I think it helped that it was a production still from set, that it partially told a story, and it was more then a marketing picture.

This on the other hand is not a particularly strong photo. It doesn’t make the costumes and designs very flattering. BUT, that being said I kinda do like seeing the classic blue and yellow look in the uniform.

It looks like Mystique is dressed in uniform but I don’t know I feel about her being a former X-Man (maybe that will explain why she could just waltz in the Mansion in the first movie, you know, outside of her being a shape-shifter and such.) I REALLY don’t know how Havok will work in this continuity if he’s Cyclops brother still, but maybe none of this will really matter if this is just a straight up reboot.

It’s all just wait and see now, but as of right now, in terms of the glimpses that we’ve been getting on ALL the Marvel Movies, I hate to say that this first pic isn’t quite a solid home run.

UPDATED (1/20/2011)

Apparently director Matthew Vaughn also though this pic was crap! In an article for Slashfilm.com Vaughn doesn’t even know where the picture came from! Give the article a read here (where you could see legit new pictures.)

I wonder if continuity will play a role in these movies tying them to the original 3. For all I care they can get rid of the last movie and make it to where it never happened.
