Today  in The Hollywood Reporter they announced that Marvel has been talking to writer/director Shane Black to take over both writing AND directing Iron Man 3. This is good news people. Why? Let me explain….

1. Shane’s writting is already close in tone with the Iron Man movies. This will not be a big jump. The movies that Shane has written has a great blend of action, comedy and drama, something that the Iron Man movies have proven to have. Shanes credits? Lethal Weapon, The Last Boy Scout, The Monster Squad (a personal fav) and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. Speaking of Kiss Kiss Bang Bang…

2. He’s already worked with Robert Downey Jr.  Downey’s performance in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is funny, strange and memorable. It was the performance that got my attention for him again. Dude was downright charming. Shane working with Downey again would just be fun.

3. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is a expertly directed flick. Great pacing, not flashy, classy, and full of energy. Don’t knock on the man for only have this film on his directing resume, Favs resume before Iron Man was pretty simple too.

Sounds like a great pair to me.
