So long my X-men

As most of you have already heard Uncanny X-men is coming to an end with issue 544.  It’s really weird seeing a title go for so long and then being canceled for absolutely no reason other than a dumbass marketing scheme to relaunch the title with a brand spanking new number 1 issue or hell probably relaunch it as two titles, knowing Marvel.   Now would be the perfect time to walk away from my X-men that I have loved for years.  But I’ve come to the conclusion that reading and collecting Uncanny is like dating a really bipolar chick.  Sure the sex is phenomenal, but do you really want to stick around and get beaten every once in a while?  Is it worth it?

I really thought for the perfect ending to the book (well, the ending for now, cause we all know the fucking book will be back to its regular number by issue 600) would have been to let Chris Claremont write it and since Cockrum isn’t with us any more, let John Byrne draw it.  But instead, it’s written by some guy and drawn by a light box artist.  But, hey who the hell am I to make suggestions?  Just a fucking guy that has been collecting Uncanny X-men since issue 167 and sometimes I wonder why I still pick up the damn thing when the Devil fucked Mystique ; when Gambit had a trial held by Eric the Red err Magneto; when the X-men got attacked by birds.  But in the end even hard core fans don’t have a say with these kinds of gimmicks. Times have been hard with the X-men. Hell, I can’t remember the last Uncanny X-men issue I really enjoyed, but I’m sure it had to do with baseball and good times.  Who am I kidding?  I know I’ll end up picking the new number 1s up.  So bring on the Uncanny X-men (Wolverine) and Uncanny X-men (Cyclops)!  If DC can relaunch the whole universe?  Why can’t X-men?  :)

I have to agree. That it is just a stupid gimmick from Marvel to compete with DC. Starting over? Marvel is too pussy to revamp their whole line.
